In Italy, 24% of the population is over 65, while in Europe the figure stands at 20%. ISTAT data certifies that Senior tourism in Italy is worth 22 billion euros. The Oxford Economics Institute estimates that, by 2030, the global spending capacity of those aged over 65 will reach 5,500 billion dollars. According to the World Tourism Organization WTO, by 2030, 35% of global tourist movements will involve people over 65 years of age, with a greater spending capacity compared to adults between 40 and 50 years of age. The elderly population is increasingly active, independent and eager to travel, seeking authentic, sustainable, safe and stimulating experiences.
In order to ensure a dignified, respectful and fulfilling travel experience for the elderly, SCOPRITALIA APS proposes, in collaboration with PromoNu and other National Senior Citizens' Associations, the creation of a CHARTER of VALUES of SENIOR TOURISM based on the following fundamental principles:
· Dignity and Respect
· Accessibility and Inclusion
· Safety and Well-being
· Participation and Autonomy
· Transparency and Fairness
· Sustainability and Responsibility
· Enhancement of the Local Economy
· Training and Awareness
