Doing tourism in the age of Climate Change. Changing places, changing ways, connecting with the changing landscape in order to continue to exist

Italy Arena

Climate change is transforming the landscapes we are accustomed to, sometimes abruptly, sometimes more gradually, but almost always irreversibly. However, climate change is also altering the travel habits of tourists, colonising new territories and shifting traveller flows during the traditional shoulder months of summer. Climate change thus becomes a factor of diversification and deseasonalisation. The travellers of the 'new era' will be called upon to adapt their travel habits and to forge a new connection with transformed landscapes, embracing greater flexibility while also discovering new destinations and new ways of experiencing a territory.

During the session, the most significant data from the Enit survey «Climate change: evoluzione di imprese e destinazioni turistiche in Europa e in Italia» will be presented.
