Event
Technology does not replace experience: it can restore it. It helps people discover, choose, reach and share places, and helps Italian destinations make themselves found.
The presentation is structured around three key moments.
It opens with data from a Meta research study on the economic impact of digital platforms on tourism, with a focus on Italy: how digital discovery generates real demand, how the storytelling of a destination translates into visitor flows, and what contribution platforms bring to the tourism supply chain and the country's economy.
This is followed by an updated overview of the Meta ecosystem serving tourism: from Facebook and Instagram as spaces for discovery and destination storytelling, to WhatsApp as a direct communication channel between destinations, operators and travellers, for information, assistance and services in the language of those arriving.
It closes with an in-depth look at wearable devices and artificial intelligence: technology that steps back, that does not ask you to look at a screen while you are observing a place. With a dedicated section on accessibility and the ability of technology to open up the experience to those who were previously excluded from it.
