Existing is not enough: one must be seen, recognised, valued. The Travel Manager today is living precisely this transition. A role that for many years often remained behind the scenes of corporate management has gradually become increasingly central, called upon to oversee not only business trips and processes, but also people, safety, sustainability, technology, well-being and the quality of the travel experience.
Meanwhile, business travel itself has changed profoundly. Company priorities have shifted, traveller expectations have evolved, and so has the very way of experiencing the business trip and the value attributed to flexibility, time and experience. Technology has accelerated tools and possibilities, but has also increased the complexity to be coordinated and managed.
Today, the Travel Manager stands at the heart of this balance: an increasingly strategic interlocutor within companies and throughout the entire business travel supply chain, called upon to bring together different needs that often move at different speeds.
This roundtable is conceived as an open and concrete conversation with those who live this role every day: what has truly changed, what the new responsibilities of the profession are, what today's business travellers expect and what direction the sector is heading in.
And why the new certification standard does not simply represent a formal step, but the recognition of an evolution that has already existed for some time and that today, finally, also finds a clear and shared definition.
