Biography
Mr. Bonifence Byamukama is a Ugandan tourism professional, entrepreneur and industry leader with extensive experience in tour operations, destination development and tourism advocacy. He is the Chairman of the Exclusive Sustainable Tour Operators Association (ESTOA), an organisation dedicated to advancing sustainable, responsible and competitive tourism in Uganda.
He is the Founder and Director of Lake Kitandara Tours & Travel Ltd, established in 1994, and has been actively involved in promoting Uganda’s tourism products and positioning the country as a leading destination in Africa.
As Chairman of ESTOA, he provides strategic leadership in promoting responsible tourism practices, conservation and sustainable tourism development. He works to strengthen partnerships between the private sector, government, conservation institutions, local communities and international tourism partners, while creating opportunities for Ugandan tourism operators to access international markets.
His work focuses on promoting Uganda’s rich natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation efforts, encouraging community participation in tourism, and ensuring that tourism contributes to employment, livelihoods and inclusive economic development.
Mr. Byamukama is a strong advocate for positioning Uganda as a competitive and sustainable tourism destination through collaboration, innovation and responsible tourism practices. At TTG Travel Experience 2026 in Rimini, Italy, he represents ESTOA and Uganda’s private tourism sector, promoting Destination Uganda, strengthening international partnerships and creating new business opportunities for Ugandan tourism enterprises.
