Enrico Di Giuseppantonio

Biography

Enrico Di Giuseppantonio was born in Fossacesia (CH) on November 23, 1958.
He began his career in the Young Christian Democrats, where he completed the full cursus honorum, rising to become a leader at the national and European level.
He shared that great training ground with other young Catholic politicians who would later rise to national prominence, such as Pierferdinando Casini and Dario Franceschini.
In 1980, he was elected to the Provincial Council of Chieti: at just 21 years old, he was the youngest councillor in Italy. Thanks to his dynamism and his proactive drive, voters reaffirmed their trust in him for two further terms.
From 1985 to 1995, he also served as assessor for tourism and entertainment. During that period, he brought profound innovation to the sectors under his responsibility, reorganising tourism and cultural promotion according to an organic and systematic planning of initiatives.
In 1999, he ran for mayor of his hometown, Fossacesia, and was elected with a remarkable result: over 64% of the votes. His re-election in 2004 was even more striking: 70% of citizens renewed their trust in him, a testament to the quality of his work.
Alongside his administrative activities, Enrico Di Giuseppantonio has always combined numerous representative roles: from 1984 to 1990, he served as a national and European leader of youth political organisations; within the UPI (Union of Italian Provinces), he chaired the Personnel Committee from 1990 to 1995; subsequently, as mayor, he joined the ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities) and, after many years among the members of the National Executive Board, from 2008 he has been the national vice president of the Association.
Furthermore, Di Giuseppantonio chaired the Union of Municipalities 'Città della Frentania e Costa dei Trabocchi', from its founding until 2008, and the Ente d'Ambito Sociale Basso Sangro.
In 2009, he was elected president of the Province of Chieti in the first round with 56% of the votes.
