Francesca Pondini

Mayor of Galeata since 2023, Francesca Pondini represents a new generation of local administrators in the inland areas of the Romagna Apennines. Elected with the civic list Per il cambiamento, supported by the center-right, she marked a historic turning point for the community by becoming the first woman to lead the Municipality. Her election was immediately tested: the day after her proclamation, Galeata was struck by a severe flood. On that occasion, Pondini demonstrated determination and strong organizational skills, promptly coordinating civil protection, technical offices, and volunteers, showing both a spirit of service and closeness to the citizens. An employee of the Amadori Group in Cesena, married and mother of two, Francesca Pondini chose to dedicate her energy to her hometown, combining her professional experience in a large company with her passion for the local community. During her mandate, she has placed families and young people at the center: she promoted the opening of the municipal nursery for children aged 0–3, designed a valley kindergarten, and launched projects for urban and infrastructure redevelopment. Among her priorities are the recovery of the historic center, the enhancement of the archaeological heritage of the Pantano mosaics, the revitalization of the hamlets, and the creation of new spaces for services, such as student housing in the former Carabinieri barracks. Pondini is also President of the Assembly of Members of ASP San Vincenzo de’ Paoli, the first time for a mayor of Galeata, confirming her focus on social services and territorial cooperation. Her administrative vision is based on openness, dialogue, and participation: an “administration for all,” aiming to strengthen identity, cohesion, and development prospects for a territory that, though small, holds great potential.
