Stefano Maiandi

Biography

Stefano Maiandi is a manager in the Third Sector and an expert in safety and environmental protection, committed for years to promoting civil rights, inclusion and accessibility. Since 2023 he has held the position of National President of FIABA ETS, the organization that for over twenty years has been leading the elimination of architectural and cultural barriers in Italy. Under his leadership, FIABA has consolidated its transition into a Third Sector Entity (ETS) and has intensified its historic activities, including the renowned FIABA Day and accredited training projects for schools. The core of Maiandi's vision is based on a radical paradigm shift: accessibility must not be understood as a mere 'technical issue' reserved for specific categories, but rather as a universal right that impacts the freedom, quality of life and autonomy of every citizen throughout their entire life. Alongside his institutional activities, he boasts a many years-long career as a freelance professional and strategic consultant in the fields of health and safety in the workplace and environmental management. This dual expertise allows him to engage effectively with public administrations, professional associations and businesses to implement Universal Design across the territory. Through the signing of important memoranda of understanding with local authorities and transport carriers, he promotes concrete solutions to transform cities into welcoming, safe spaces free of mobility barriers.
