Alessandra Priante

Biography

She is an economist and diplomat with a distinguished international career. She served as Director for Europe at the United Nations Tourism Agency (UN Tourism), being the first woman and the first Italian to hold this position. She led the Agency's most important Region, comprising 43 Member States representing over half of the global tourism market, enhancing Member States' satisfaction, promoting innovative projects, and increasing financial contributions. During the pandemic, she played a crucial role, launching initiatives such as the Global Tourism Crisis Committee and strengthening UN Tourism's centrality in European and global institutions. She also enhanced Italy's role in globally significant events, including the #RestartTourism campaign and the first World Youth Summit on Sustainable Tourism. Graduated in Business Economics from Bocconi University, with two Master's degrees including an Executive MBA from Luiss, she speaks six languages. After an important five-year diplomatic mission in the Persian Gulf to promote Italian cultural heritage, in 2015 she resumed leadership of national tourism policies. She contributed to the definition of the National Strategic Tourism Plan 2017-2020, governance reforms, and the strengthening of Italy's presence in major international platforms (UNWTO, OECD, BlueMed, Eusair, Eusalp). An expert in economic analysis and policy, she was head of international relations and protocol at MiPAAFT (2018-2019). Author of various publications, she teaches at Luiss Business School and is a Research Fellow at the Corporate Strategy Research Center. A member of the European Film Academy, she cultivates passions for music, cinema, art, and cuisine.
